Model BPM – Thermal Overload Protector

Thermal Overload Protector

Thermal Overload Protector Model BPM is a marvel of precision engineering and miniaturization, developed by Portex Technologies, India’s Leading Manufacturer and Supplier of Thermal Overload Protectors and Thermal Cutouts. Model BPM is the smallest thermal overload protector in our entire range of thermostats, specifically designed for over temperature protection of electronic and electrical equipment. This thermal overload protector is available with Normally Closed (NC) or Normally Open (NO) contacts. Due to small size, the response to temperature rise is fast, and when the equipment overheats, the thermostat trips off, ensuring complete protection to all equipment against burning or over heating.

Thermal Overload Protector inside Motor Winding

The outer body of this thermal overload protector is made of a high temperature engineering polymer and the contacts are made of solid silver for long life. The lead wires are teflon insulated and can withstand high temperature. This body is sealed with high temperature epoxy and so the operating characteristics are not affected by dust, fumes, varnish, etc. The operating principle of this thermal overload protector is based on the over center mechanism. This mechanism operates a snap action bimetal and a beryllium copper switching blade. This provides the thermal overload protector with quick make and break switching characteristic, stable trip temperature, even after continuous usage, and quick restart. The normal snap action disc thermostats have delayed restart and the trip temperature drifts after long usage.

Special Features of Thermal Overload Protector

  • Snap Action bimetal thermostat
  • Quick make and break switching
  • Small size for easy fitting
  • Chattering free and precise operating characteristics
  • Solid silver contacts for long life of 1,00,000 operations
  • Sealed body resistant to moisture, gases, fumes and varnish

Model IR – Thermal Cutout

Thermal Cutout

Thermal Cutout Model IR is manufactured in India by Portex Technologies and was developed with a metal body, but, at the same time keeping the size small. This thermal cutout has a deep drawn seamless aluminum body which gives it strength and better temperature sensing capability. It is the smallest metal body thermal cutout in our complete range of thermal overload protectors. It has a high temperature resistance engineering polymer insulation in the inside and so the outer metal body is electrically insulated, hence, there is no chance of any electrical shock. Due to the inbuilt insulation, there is no need of a plastic insulating sleeve. It does not have any mounting arrangement as it is designed to be inserted in any cavity of the equipment. It can also be fixed with a clamp or any high temperature adhesive or it can be taped on to the equipment with a high temperature tape.

The operating principle of this thermal cutout is based on the over center mechanism, which operates a snap action bimetal strip and a beryllium copper switching blade. This mechanism is much more efficient that the snap action disc thermostat mechanism because it provides our thermal cutout with quick restart feature and stable trip temperature. The contacts of the metal body thermal cutout are made of solid silver. This gives the thermal cutout a long life and better performance characteristics. All the components of this thermal cutout are spot welded on a stainless steel housing plate. The lead wires are teflon insulated which can withstand high temperature. The body is doubled sealed with an industrial grade epoxy. Due to this the operating characteristics of our thermal cutout model IR are not affected by moisture, varnish, dust, etc. It is available with Normally Open (N.O.) and Normally Closed (N.C.) contacts.

Model ISQA – Bimetal Thermostat

Bimetal Thermostat Models ISQA, ISQB and ISQC have been developed after extensive research and development by our engineering team to address the customers’ requirement of durability, rigidity of body and ease of mounting. These bimetal thermostats are the newest models in our range of products. Each bimetal thermostat has a solid machined aluminum body to provide greater strength. Due to the metal body, these bimetal thermostats have better heat sensing capability than ordinary thermal overload protectors.

Mounting Arrangements –

All the three models have different mounting arrangements to suit the customers’ needs.

    • Model ISQA has two holes at the end, by which it can be screwed on to any flat surface.
    • Model ISQB has two grooves, one on each end. It can also be mounted with two M3 screws.
    • Model ISQC has only one groove at the end, by which it can be screwed.
