Model BPM thermostat is the best suited thermal overload protector from our complete range of thermostats for Over Temperature Protection of Home Appliances such as Wax Baths, Electric Lunch Boxes, Oil Heaters, etc.
Thermostat for Home Appliances – Model BPM
Description of Thermostat/Thermal Overload Protector
We have been supplying Model BPM thermostat to home appliance manufacturers for the past 20 years. Our Model BPM thermostat has been the most successful thermal overload protector for over temperature protection of home appliances. This thermal overload protector has the smallest physical size in our complete range of thermostats. Due to the small size it can be easily fitted inside any home appliance. The outer body of this thermostat consists of a high temperature resistant engineering polymer. Unlike normal snap action disc thermostats, which have delayed restart and the trip temperature drifts downwards, our thermostats are based on the over center mechanism. This operates a snap action bimetal strip and a beryllium copper switching blade. As a result, the thermostat has quick restart, stable trip temperature and quick make and break switching with accurate operation and no chattering or sparking. The contacts are made of solid silver for long life. All the internal parts are spot welded on a stainless housing plate. The lead wires are Teflon insulated which can with stand high temperature. This thermostat is available with Normally Open (NO) and Normally Closed (NC) contacts.
Special Features:
- Small size for easy fitting
- Solid silver contacts for long life of 1,00,000 operations
- Bimetallic snap action thermostat
- No sparking and chattering free
- Quick make and break switching
- Available in Normally Open (NO) or Normally Closed (NC) contacts
- Teflon insulated lead wires
- Available in any temperature from 50C to 160C
Application of Thermostat/Thermal Overload Protector
Thermostat Model BPM needs to be fitted close to the heat source so that it can sense temperature rise. It can be located near the heater section of the appliance and can be mounted with a clamp. The heater needs to be connected in series with the thermostat. When the heat builds up, this thermal overload protector will sense the temperature rise and will trip off at the preset temperature. This will disconnect the heater from the mains and will save the appliance from overheating. This preset temperature is specified by the customer and is set at the time of manufacturing. It cannot be changed or adjusted. Please consult us for complete technical guidance.
Voltage | Up to 250VAC or 24VDC |
Continuous Load | Up to 8 AMPS |
Maximum Load Switching Capacity | 30 AMPS |
Contacts Configuration | Available with Normally Open (N.O.) or Normally Closed (N.C.) contacts |
Switching Action | SPST Normally Closed (N.C.) or Normally Open (N.O.) contacts which open or close with a snap action at a preset temperature and disconnect the appliance from the mains. |
Flash-over Voltage | Exceeds 2 KV between body & leads. |
Endurance (Life) | Exceeds 100,000 operations (trippings). |
Trip Temperature | Available preset for any trip temperature between 50 ± 5 C to 160 ± 5 C specified by customer. Trip temperature not adjustable. |
Reset Temperature | Reset temperature (restart temp) approx. 15 ± 5 C below trip temperature. |
Restart Mode | The thermostat/thermal overload protector will automatically restart upon cooling. This will automatically restore power supply and switch on the home appliance. Adequate precaution must be exercised in home appliance protection applications where automatic thermostat/thermal overload protector restart can cause injury due to restored power supply. |
Fitting or Mounting | The thermostat/thermal overload protector can be fitted with a clamp near the heater or can be taped on to the heater with a high temperature tape so that it can sense the temperature rise. |
Connections | Thermostat/Thermal Overload Protector can be connected in series with the main circuit of the appliance. |
